Looking for 2x32GB - partly for VMs, partly for Windows gaming

I currently have:

  • Corsair 2x16GB 3200 CL16 memory working fine.
  • Ryzen 3900X (might upgrade to 5950X if they ever become available at RRP)
  • Aorus b550 ITX board

I'm running Proxmox with a Windows gaming VM, but finding myself wanting to add more VMs. As I'd like to keep my ITX board, can anyone recommend a good 2x32GB kit please?

The costs and availability seem to vary wildly.

I also see conflicting guidance on the effect of 3200MHz vs 3600MHz on Infinity Fabric. Some say that even if effective latency is the same, running memory at 3600MHz means chiplets can communicate faster.

It appears OCUK currently have an excellent Kit in stock at the moment:

Thanks - that does indeed look good, I'll go for that. EDIT - Looking on Patriot's website, I see they have a 'Blackout' series. So far as I can tell it's the same spec, just a different casing.

That's because timings make a small but noticeable difference. 3200MHz CL14 will be faster than 3600 running CL 17 or maybe even CL 16.

That side of the equation I get (I.e that CL / freq gives you latency, which may be the same for any given pair of values).

What I struggle to get a clearer answer on is how much latency would it be worth giving up to have infinity fabric run faster (which as I understand it affects inter-chiplet communication).
