I don't really know what that is but I assume it tries to eliminate camera shake? It would be useful but most of the time I can get well exposed pictures without blur at about 1/20 exposure time thingy so I don't really find it a problem.

You won't be able to get sharp images with a long zoom at 1/20

Remember the rule : Shutter speed=focal length :)
 
well it turned up today and works a treat in the office, quit enjoying it so far! for that sort of money i'm well pleased and is so much better than my old beast! - how much life do you get out of the bats?

I couldn't really say but it seems to last a fair while for me. I got some rechargables but the batteries supplied lasted quite well, maybe 300 shots at a very rough estimate? No idea really :p
