Looking for a 2.1 setup for £200?

So far I think I have settled on some speakers for £100, Wharfedale Diamond 9.1. Complete noob to the whole sound setup so would like some advice please. ;)

EDIT: Found the Whafedale Diamond 9.1 with a SW150 sub for £230, good price right? My guess is I will need a amp to go along with these though so might push it out my budget big time.

2nd EDIT: Going to be using it with my PC but if the speakers are really that good I might be using it for my PC and my Home theater, got a 5.1 setup for the TV but it was only £250 about 3 years ago so if the 2.0/1 setup sounds that good it might end up being a 5.1.

What's the amp to be used for?: Just 2 channel analogue sources such as a CD player or the stereo out from a PC; or do you see it being the hub that connects a mix of digital sources (Optical from TV, HDMI from consoles, Sky and Blu-ray) as well as analogue?
 
Don't bother with a sub. Use the money from that to buy a stereo integrated amp and you'll be sorted. Unless your room is enormous, you'll be fine without a sub with the diamond 9.1's.
 
£230 is a good price, as separate they come to about £270. If you are going to add a subwoofer at some point, then you can save yourself £40 by buying both now. However, it depends on how much can be spent on the amp. Getting a decent amp and deciding to forego the subwoofer, would be better than skimping on the amp.

Also depends on what you are going to use the speakers for mainly. You won't really need the subwoofer for music, unless you listen to bass heavy genres. If you are going to use these for when watching films as well, then no doubt the subwoofer will add some heft to explosions etc, but they do a good job on their own.

I've got a pair of 9.1's, and the bass they put out really did surprise me when I watched Inception, especially during the scene when the water came rushing in. When I bought them a few years ago, I did intend to get the SW150 at a later date. I never did, as for me personally, I felt it wasn't needed; but then, I am not a bass head. Maybe people who are, will want a subwoofer with them.

They are going to be connected to my PC to start with for gaming/music and if they sound that good might upgrade them to 5.1 for TV and my PC, will have to drag them around the room though which might be annoying.

Probably a year. Can you recommend me a amp for the opportunity to add a sub for £80-£100? This would be for 2.1, just in case I want the sub later on :)

Yes.

The subwoofer has both high/speaker level inputs and low/line level RCA inputs. You will need to use the high level input, as the A10 does not have pre out or subwoofer (low/line level) RCA connection. You'd have to pay more, probably around £170 to get a stereo amp with pre out.

Low level connection is more common with AV receivers. Using high level is perfectly fine though.

Well its not like the old days , when you could have a stereo amp and then add a 3 channel processor . If you want 5.1 that means an AV amp , which wont be quite as good as a proper stereo amp.

Ive not dabbled in av for ages as I use mostly headphones these days
 
Your other option is something like this :-

Onkyo HTX22HDX 2.1 High Definition Decoder/Amplifier/Speaker System

and then adding the 3 speakers that go with it ..... the sub also does all the decoding
