£300 max.

Front suspension is a must.

I don't particularly want/need rear suspension.

Disc brakes would be nice.

I've been having a bit of a look around and found the following:

^^They both look pretty much the same to me. Which is best? Any differences?

^^They look OK, but like I said, I don't really need FS. I'm sure they'd be pretty heavy too.

Any recommendations?

what are you going to be using it for? and for that money id deffiantly stick to a hardtail and v brakes because a full susser will be heavy and basically crap and the disc brakes you will get will be cheap mechanicals which take a lot of work to keep them working any where near as well as decent v brakes

The main reason for buying it is to take on holiday in a couple of weeks, but I'll still be using it when I come back.

I just want something to generally crash around on.

I'd need something that can take a beating as I'm pretty good at buckling wheels. :D

the 2.0 has better forks than the 3.0 and a few other improved bits which are well worth it over the cheap mech disks you will get as an extra on the 3.0 disc
