Or at least, brass coloured. Does anyone know of a brass door knocker where you don't have to drill through the whole door? I've been to all the major DIY stores and all of them only have them online, none in store. Apart from Wickes that only had a couple of silver ones in the shop. My door is 45mm thick but the Wickes one and most others I see online come with very long bolts like 80mm that would need cutting. And then there'll be a visible nut on the inside of the door that screws onto the bolt which I don't want. I would like one that you just need to screw into the front of the door with brass screws, say about 20 to 25mm long. The only ones I can find that might work are these, although don't know if they're any good.

What's your front door made of?

Wood. Don't worry, I've decided I'll do a Dunelm click and collect for the knocker in my first link as it's going to be the easiest way to install one, just four screws without needing to drill through the door. I'll need to buy some brass screws separately. I literally can't find any other knockers that can be fitted that way. I would ideally have preferred a proper brass one but I can't be bothered to try and cut a metal bolt and don't really want a decorative nut on the other side.

Are you sure you want the man from Amazon to (violently) use it ... we have a bell and a chrome knocker , neither of which they seem to use,
usually tapping with keys on the glass panels.

In another thread I made a few weeks ago about repairing and repainting my front door, hornetstinger suggested to me to fit a knocker. I've nearly finished it and I agree with him, it would be nice to have one.

I'm looking for one too, basically just as "set dressing" for our inner door, which was originally the front door to the house.

To be honest, it's mostly for just decorative reasons for me too, I think it'll look nice.
