HI all

I'm looking for a cheap host to host a message board so it must have MySQL as i plan to run php or a ipb board on it

I was looking at 3ix.org expert package as that was with a domain name but i've read a few reviews that have put me off it a bit.

I'm really hoping someone maybe able to point me to some good hosts please.

I wasn't to sure where to post this question?

Thank you.

J/k, very kind of you to offer to host a guy for free. :)

well if you have a lot of big projects that are coming up that will have popular sites then im sure we can come to some arrangement. Will add you on msn if thats ok?

Sounds like you're trying to sell your services with ^^ and "free for a year", which ain't allowed :) (careful of ze mods)

I too am looking for a new host

currently with micfo.com for 84 USD per year (you can't get the deal I'm on now so I can't post what I have but I have it printed at home)

It's for a small site www.kronos1.org low bandwidth per month and I use about 1 gig of space all in.

micfo have been great but want a UK based company as loading times are becoming a problem (due to mail spams.)

Is it possible to have a host that doesn't allow users to create mailboxes as this always seems to slow down the server.

Jas you're best looking at some of the best rated hosts on ochostreview.co.uk. Probably worth doing a google search for your prospective providers' names to get a good feel for them aswell. :)

Not sure what setup your current hosting provider has, but something doesn't sound right with it. :p

I havent sold anything im giving the hosting away for free. I was hinting for a back link not money!!!!

Wow slammed for giving something away:confused::confused:
Not slamming at all - just saying it could sound like you're a commercial host giving it for a year, etc etc - glad you're not!:)

yes everyone knew you wanted a backlink. of course, depends if it's a popular site it would be worth it .. if not then it wouldn't be worth it.

Here's why I would never want free. Everyone on here knows that Beansprout runs a hosting company, whch I buy from. You could say I'm biased, but I'm not. I got clients and they pay me to do their stuff. I pay the hosting bill for Bean's service and I run some client sites from there. No secrets there. I pay the bills prompty and without fuss - why? coz I trust Bean to look after my accounts. If I can't trust my hosting who can I trust? Simple business, dude. If I didn't pay Bean for anything what are they going to do for me? - nothing. So if I got hosting problems or a question I know that I get a reply quick and always very helpful and they sort out my stuff because I pay. Like I said - it's just a comment - but it's one that rings true in the commercial world. Free hosting might be OK for a couple of personal sites but it spells commercial death because you're not chargng for service. You might think a link back help you're company but it's only 1 domain. I could get you a similar link for £8 (PR4) from my link building guys.

it's just a comment don't take it harshly.

Yeah i appricate what your saying, i host a fair few sites and if there is a problem with someones site i respond and get it sorted as quck as possible. If i'm giving away some hosting to someone the service they get will be the same as what a paying customer would get regardless of if they give me a back link or not. I'm not actually expecting a favour in return, if they provide a back link great, if not oh well.

I don't sell hosting to make money, simply because there are too many people doing the exact same thing. I bought a large resellers account because i was hosting around 7 sites for myself and the old boy, and it worked out more cost effiicient. I have sold some hosting got some money back, made a few drinks and now i'm happy.

My offer of free hosting to people on here was just that "an offer of free hosting". No strings free hosting for a year, with the same service as a paying customer would get (guarenteed).

Yep just clear this up he's not asked for any money at all off me and it's an amazing offer which i'm really pleased at.

Thank you :)

At the end of the day, if no one signs up with Vidahost, then their reasoning for that decision is beyond my comprehension. :p

It's fast, reliable, has the best support, cheap, up to date... I could go on. Best of all, if one of their packages doesn't quite suit your needs, you can get in touh with them and they'll build one just how you need it. :)
