Looking for a decent 500GB

Looking for a decent, not breaking the bank 500GB SATAII Drive.

Anyone got any suggestions on what to look at and what to avoid.

Im looking at getting two for my home server

I know it's not a 500GB but for a few more pennies you could have a drive that has two 320GB platters and get's 90MB average transfer speeds.

For the extra £6 I think Ill go for two Western Digital Caviar SE16 640GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM....'s

Personally I would recommend the WD-500 RE2-GP drives. If going into a server then the performance difference won't be that important as not loading games etc.

I went for these as a batch for servers and am not disappointed. Went with mainly for the power savings and also the performance drop on a server drive used uintermittently is negligable.

I would however stick with Spinpoint or Seagate if for a heavily used disk where performance is all important like in a games rig.
