Looking for a fabricator to build this..

Hope you're planning not to move it...

Just taken a look at the other sketches - my god it's going to be heavy.

50mm box section?? Hope it's aluminium not steel.

Allso - Not sure about the monitor stand - 21" monitors aren't light and you're balancing one on essentially a 60mmish wide section...

It's change that sharpish.

Quoted for uber truthness!!! Fabricators are trianed to readortho projections and do what they say, they dont need fancy ass 3d cad uber spin me around show how it fits into the relativityness of life pictures! Talka bout over complifying things:) If you can email simple ortho projections to various fabricators they may be able to give you a rough idea whats possible.

Granted but with a 3d drawing you can produce an ortho drawing, even though a plan and projections would be better tbh. ortho is a bit antiquted imo but maybe thats because im from a building background and not an engineering one? :)

Another option has been suggested for this build Dexion, any one had experience of it? it doesnt need to be pretty as it will be under the stairs ;)

Found this company

Just need to work out the costs of my plans now...

Anyone?

See linky below for dimensions..

That slotted stuff doesn't look very nice to work with at all.

Only thing I'd be questioning is the strength of the monitor support, but if it's had a good weld job done to it then it would be pretty strong.

I could probably make that in a day or so if I had the materials, and money :p

I trust that it sits on a base of some kind because as it 'stands' it will fall over.

EDIT: Just seen other thread, it all makes a little more sense now. :)

SketchUp is a superb program for schematic design but I hope your designer used a proper CAD program to develop the working drawings.

Agreed, a couple of stiffeners welded into that 'knee' joint would cost a lot less than a new monitor. :)

I am not wanting to criticise but I have some reservations about the keyboard platform as well. 10mm thick is a little over the top for a keyboard. Again, it would be cheaper, and more elegant, to use a piece of 4mm plate with a fold at the front for stiffness. Just a thought.

I can highly reccomend an engineers (fab shop) in Knowsely, Merseyside to you - done many a job for me and all were top notch if you're interested

I've moved from the area and I've not got their email any more - Though looking at your job i would suggest you ring them first and explain.

To get to the right person, I'd ring them on 0151 546 2882 and ask for Andy Watkin; tell him they were recommended by Dave who used to be at NTS and he'll remember me and hopefully sort you out.
