Hey guys,

I am looking for a networked storage solution for all my music and movies, so that my girlfriend and I can both access our movie and music collection via our network.

I know NAS storage solutions can be good, but I would want one that I could either expand, or put my own hard drive in.

Does anyone know of a good solution for around £100-150?

Thanks :)

Netgear Ready Nas? I have the Stora, works fine for my needs but gets average reviews.

Personally I wouldn't think twice about recommending the Stora.

qnap or synology

i have a qnap 209j and it is rather excellent
has a great interface and is easy to set up.

the newer models are vastly improved too

What about one of the synology enclosures? Been looking into this myself and the Synology and also the qnap ones look good.

Thanks for the advice guys. Nice to see that it has internet sharing of files etc :)

I will need to save up a little bit for it, but it certainly looks good :)

Some friends have the Netgear ReadyNAS Duo and NV+ systems and they all seem to be very pleased with them.

I have just had a browse and it appears that Netgear are currently giving away free 1TB or 2TB disks, depending which Duo system you buy (2110 1TB or 2120 2TB). I think this means you can get a 4TB Duo for ~£250 :)

Have the netgear stora its ok for the money but given the choice I wouldn't buy it again as its a bit tempermental with dnla sharing to my PS3 to the point that sometimes it shares new files sometimes it doesn't and needs to get the dnla share redone and sometimes has a paddy when trying to rename files/folders on it.

A few friends have synology systems and sware by them and is what I'm looking at upgrading to atm, they have a lot of support from the manufacturer who is always updating the systems and interface/firmware features with new things (I believe they are waiting for apple to approve there new Iphone app to control music playback from your phone, and I think there are some android apps as well)

I setup my Synology DS410 today, not the cheapest of the bunch but comes highly reccomended by me. Have used Icybox, QNAP Nas's + a purpose built Atom machine and this beats them all hands down.
