Hi guys, planning to get a new keyboard and mouse, which will need to be pretty good for a bit of gaming (BF3, BFBC2 and dragon age 2), and typing long essays/ schoolwork without discomfort. Do you guys have any ideas? I don't have a lot of ideas on the keyboard, but I've heard good things about their MX518 mouse, and their excellent customer service, can anyone help me on this? cheers

I don't mean to be rude but there are a fair few posts about this recently. None the less I shall share my experiences with you..

I played Q3 in div1 back in yonder days, then headed to css where I made with some fellow gamers a top 5 UK team, many people said, and had sponsorship, a manager, website designer/editor etc etc. A nerd I know.

I have always used Razer Copperhead, and my Logitech G15, I understand there are much better Logitechs now but they seem to do the trick, and are much cheaper than Razer keyboards, personally, there isn't a massive difference a keyboard make.

A point and clicker is the way to go. Razer are a serious gaming company, they have a team and are renound for their expertise. I vote razer, though i'm not 100% sure what they're later products are like. But 2000dpi does it for me...

Hope this helps?

Thanks shibbzy, So I understand a good mouse is the way to go, and keyboards it doesn't really matter as long as it's decent quality?

Oh and kd, my budget is around 50 for both I guess?

Any of the razer mice or keyboard will do, You are better off trying each mouse and keyboard down your local PC shop then decide where is best to buy, I would buy from ocuk items like thease incase you have problems the returns is first rate at OCUK.

I wouldn't go wireless, and get a decent gaming keyboard, backlit, no ghosting, like the Microsoft Sidewinder X4. For the mouse it's more difficult, too much in the way of personal taste. Weight (light? heavy?), size, how many buttons, ect...

The MX518 is rather big, and I found heavy (especially compared to the Intellimouse Explorer which is super light). So it depends really, if you like light or heavy mice, ect...

£50 is a bit low for both. I would consider a £30 mouse, and at £20 you don't get gaming keyboards. It's easier to get a gaming keyboard to do the normal stuff than the other way around.

Well, if you want an alternative to a gaming keyboard, you have the Logitech UltraX Premium. I used that at work, it's probably the best cheap keyboard I've ever used. Play Left 4 Dead 2 sometimes on it, stuff like that, no problem. If you're looking for a low action, notepad feel that is.
