I wouldn't get an X1800XL, they are pretty poor.

whats so poor about them then? compared to something like a 7800gt or something, i thought they were pretty decent cards with good potential for OCing

For £6 more you can get the XT, that's what's poor about them ;). In fairness, they are half decent cards but not worth it at their current prices.

if you were buying one today then yeah. but i thought they were just a slightly slower x1800 256mb XT, so if you push the xl a bit they should be able to keep up surely, as theyve got the same amount of pipelines etc. im merely thinking outloud :)

well, they can clock to just under XT speeds, but get an XT and you get insane clocks, people have been breaking 11.5K on 3d05 with them lol :)

wow, thats nice. i would deffo get the XT for an extra £6, i just thought the xl was still decent. :) (ive just bought one)

The X1800XL is still a very good card. They offer performance similar to a 7800GT. They seem to overclock well too. The person who stated to not get the X1800XL, is known to prefer Nvidia cards. Had you stated get the 7800GT (same performance) i am sure he would have stated its a great card.
