looking for a host

ive decided i want to make my own website so am currently looking at hosts.
havnt found what i want yet.
im wanting a host that will let me have my own mini forum and chat room.
any recomendations??

All you need for that is a host which will support PHP&MySQL - for the chat room, I'd choose something like Shoutbox unless you can get a CGI to run

an irc applet is probably the best bet.

I would imagine most cpanel hosts offer that. I know that tsohost have a couple of clicks installer for forum/chat room.

i was looking at a 1and1 package that had all the features ect but you have to pay 6 months upfront which i dont like idea of really

Careful. Some dedi/co-lo hosts ban IRC stuff from their servers, and if the hosting is shared, you are not going to be popular if your host gets it in the neck.
