I want to get a Magsafe charger on my desk, however I want to pick up the phone with just 1 hand. Meaning the charger needs to be held down or weighted down.

Also, to make it multi purpose...I want it laid flat, be inside a thin material so I can use it also as a coaster.

I've seen many charging pads that isn't Magsafe which is 1 material, like made of wood. Is there such a holder that exists?

how do you propose to keep the magsafe charger down when you pick up your phone ? Mechanical attachment to the desk? screws, or tape, or velcro ? Shoudl this pad be moveable or removeable ? Should it just be really heavy . (i'm think slate, or granite or something)

I'm thinkins a 4 or 5" square peice of ply-wood. hole for the apple charger. , drill out corners for lead weights. Veneer over the top with a nice wood, maybe finish the edges in banding as well, but i like a nice plywood edge. Could be nice

Not to hijack your thread as that’s not my intention, but I am on the fence about using wireless charging with my iPhone.

It generates more heat and that is what shortens battery life long term.

I wouldn’t mind trying one but so will watch this thread. Still think a good old cable and decent power supply such as Belkin etc is the safer option for day to day charging.

That's the thing, either the weight of the stand or being held down so a sideway motion takes it off.

It will only be use now and again, i prefer wired usually.

Not wanting it to sound tacky and cheap, but Ikea do some that are like a coaster.

Suppose if you wanted to you could stick down via double sided tape, or even recess it into the desk.
There are black or white, and a raised version with a cork surround.

thats what £2 velcro pads are for? ive had mice stuck to all sorts of things.

It's not just HOLDIING it down, but also something that add more surface area to function as a larger coaster. And if possible, a THIN layer on top to protect wear and tear and possible spillage.

This does 2 of the 3, except the cover.

i had a few type before buying the velcro and in all the pad(charger) did stick out, i think this is by design so you get maximum hold.
my magsafe is 4 years old and still looks new, it as a rubber pod for grip, the magnet grip falls off fast i would think you need actual contact to a good hold/charge
