Hi everybody,

After deciding all the components of my latest build I'm after a new monitor, as my partner is gonna have mine now.

I have been using 24' for quite some time now, and I'm happy with that size, but I'm tempted of trying 27'. I have been reading and it pretty much depends on the person, as everyone seems to have a different opinion about it. Considering it is going to be 1080p, would be 27' too big, or it would be just at the limit?

And, for both 24' and 27', what are the must have features? I'm not really into monitors and every single one seems to be exactly the same as the previous but, at the same time, completely different.

If you could give me some recommendations I would really appreciate it. My budget for this is... tight. I could go up to £200, but the cheaper, the better.

What are you going to use it for (main use)? And if games, what kind of games do you play?

Try and provide any other information that may help people recommend you something.

Both gaming and office use, as I spend quite some time writing documents.

Gaming pretty much anything, as it will be shared with my partner, so at the end it will be used for all kind of games, fps, rpg, driving, etc.

The desk is, if I remember correctly, 140*75cm, so it would be at a distance of -+70cm I guess.

Can't think of anything else that would be useful atm

I have a BenQ BL2710 for desktop work and an Asus ROG Swift 27" for games. I find 27" quite large enough and I really don't get on with wide screen (too much seems to be missing top and bottom).
Both are 1440p and both great. The Asus especially so for games like Fallout 4.
HTH.
Andi.

Thanks, but both (specially the Asus) are kinda out of my budget. I'd love to stretch to one of those, but yh... a bit too far.

I have a 1080P 27" monitor, people seem to slate them on here but I love mine, I will go for a higher res by the end of the year but will need to be something that will wow me to want to change to change from my trusty 1080P screen so will more than likely be a super wide

Ok, thinking to stay on the 24" then, not willing to take the risk of finding out too late that the 27" would be too big for my desk.

60hz or 144hz? I'm not a serious gamer but I enjoy playing quite a lot of different games, from fps like CS:GO to slow-paced ones like World of Tanks or World of Warships.

The difference from 60hz to 144hz in 24" is about £100 by the looks of it... is it really worth it?
