a bit like a piezo buzzer but it needs to be even smaller

what's the smallest thing like this i would be looking for? also are there any like this that can make noise when sent a signal without having to have batteries powering them in some way?

DC operated I assume?

Is this really too big?

16mm high x 24mm dia. (Size of piezo buzzer from ******s)

RS has a much wider range of course. Do you need flying leads or is PCB mount OK? What voltage are you going to be supplying it? What type of sound do you want? Tone? Siren? Transducer that you provide audio signal, rather than using a buzzer?

I honestly doubt you'll find any sound making device smaller than a piezo buzzer. Especially that is DC operated.

And piezo buzzers don't require battery power so you had already answered your question there.

Grasshopper in a very small box?

I've never come accross something like you've described to be honest, and if you've searched the obvious component sites then it will either be very hard to get or non-exsistant.

(Kazakore those might be classed as competitors, which is why I havent named them.)

PK!

Really? Sorry, as they are electronic component sites, not PC sites, I thought it would be OK. I see M has been star-ed out. Hmmm.

I will have a look through what I can find in the shop here and come back. Doubt there will be much along this lines though. Just got a call and got to go fix an Aston first though...

Can't see anything even vaguely relating to this on the main site here.

Smallest I can find elsewhere is through-hole PCB mount, 12mm dia, 8.5mm hight, 6.5mm lead spacing, 5VDC operated at under £1 each.

Panel mount with flying leads start at about twice that size.

I find it hard to believe these aren't small enough for you.

I was trying to avoid even looking at surface mount stuff but obviously you can get smaller. What I mentioned above are just from a search of one well known electronic component distributors catalogues.
