I've currently got a series of WD hard drives in my computers but after 2 have died on me in 8 months, I'm just wondering if they're not as reliable as another brand.

As such, I am looking for some new hard drives and could do with some help.

In a new PC I'm going to be building soon, the main OS will be on an SSD but I want a larger hard drive for data/music/etc and a few for backups/nas drives/etc.

Can anyone recommend the most reliable brand/model? I will be keeping backups of backups in future but would still appreciate reliability.

Thanks in advance.

Just had an F3 die on me last week. Had two of those and an F1 and this is the first time a HDD has failed on me for a very long time. Not saying the F3 is an unreliable drive but it's more a matter of (bad) luck I think. Both of the two drives you mention have a good reputation. My own Caviar Black has been trouble free and I switched to this to replace an F3 as my main backup drive. It also comes with a 5 year warranty. It's my sixth WD drive over the past couple of years and none have failed or developed any minor faults.
