Looking for a server to play about with

Looking for a bit of help.

im looking for a server that I can use to learn things on. be it Virtualisation or just the bog standard setting up Domain controlers etc.

What kind of spec should i be looking for as its just going to be used as a learning tool for me rather than in a live environment.

Why not use your main computer?

Set up a virtual machine, install Centos or whatever you want to use and play with that.

If you don't mind the noise, cheap servers can be had second hand with 4-8 cores at a bit over £100.
