Hi all. I'm looking for a power bank that is powered by one or two AA batteries. I know these exist but I want one that I can insert rechargeable batteries in to and be able to charge the batteries by plugging the power bank in to a power socket (rather than have to charge the batteries using a dedicated charger).

Thanks.

How much power does it carry though? I have an Anker 20000mAh which charges my 6P more than 5 times on a single charge, which is enough to last me a week.

Be wary with that portapow AA/AAA recharger - it sometimes has a habit of "overcharging" batteries.

There is a myriad of AA/AAA rechargers these days that have USB connections (check it can do USB out) - for charging a phones you really want something that has atleast 2 AA or AAA batteries and more like 4 unless it is just for an emergency charge.

My current setup for when I need power "off the grid" so to speak for phones and tablets, etc. is:

So I had a look and AA batteries seems to vary in capacity, rechargeable ones go from 1000mAh to 3000mAh. Meaning if you go for a 4 AA pack you'll get 4000mAh to 12000mAh. Not exactly that bad but money wise you may be better off buying a couple of normal battery packs.

my sister has a power bank with solar panel on it. she went out camping for 2 weeks and said it was superb! . sorry i dont know the make and model of it

Camping was just an example guys. I may be without a wall socket for much longer than a week. Appreciate the suggestions though. Unfortunately solar chargers are often too large and bulky to carry around.

Yes, the USB is an output port for charging devices. Mine is the 4 AA version.

Yeah I get that. I wondered if the batteries provided enough charge when not connected to a power source though. Thanks

With the 20,000mah version of this

What a combo!

Recommended by an OCuk forum user and its amazing. There are slightly cheaper battery packs and solar-panels, as well as ones rated at a higher power but these panels work best in all conditions, delivering much better power in cloudy days. The power pack also keeps charging if the power delivered to it is intermittent, which is ideal.

Peak output does not make a solar panel, consistency does.

My wife had been on about getting a power bank so she could charge up for the journey home from work etc.
In the end I purchased:

RAVPower 16750mAh for £25.99

It's external HD in size and it does have a little weight on it, but obviously she gets loads of charges on her 3rd generation Moto G from it.

Power bank (20kmAh)
Solar charger
Fast car charger

That's what I will have for next year's camping.
Only lacking the solar cell.

For short trips with car I charge it full before leaving and whenever I'm in car plug it in.

Everyone in QC 3 which really helps
Qc 3 power bank CHARGING is most important. Allows me to really pump a good amount of power in from car QC 3 charger

Only unit I found was rav power version
