Hi

I'm looking for a wireless hard disk, about 1TB which I can connect to a power socket. Don't want to be recharging the wireless HDD all the time, so must be able to leave it connected to the mains power.

Must have a on/off button.

I want to store music/photos/other files on the HDD. And use my laptop to access my files.

Thanks

Jonathan

As above, by the sounds of your description you basically want to be able to access files from within your home without having to plug extra hard drives in.

Edit: I seem to remember seeing a prototype of a wireless hard-drive, but wasn't aware they were now being sold, i dread to think of the cost of one though.

Is there a power on/off switch on the WD 1TB My Cloud Personal Cloud Storage?
Hard to tell from the pics. There isn't one around the back, but I wonder if the big silver thing on the front is a power button? I don't actually own one. You could always just disconnect the power lead.

I have the older(?) MyBook Live 2TB NAS. It has no power switch.

Another bit of advice, you best get a gigabit router if you want reasonable transfer speeds (unless the My Cloud has been improved). And you need to hard wire it to the router to obtain decent speeds.
