Spent the last 5yrs sat in a vertagear gaming chair bought 2nd hand, its now getting a bit uncomfortable and has some unwanted squeeks n rattles.
So my son says i should invest in an ergonomic mesh chair, however there are no real places on the high street to go try one out
What can you guys suggest? money is an issue but if i have to spend £500 so be it.

thanks

Mesh ergo is definitely where my money would go, you could check refurbs/ex office suppliers and possibly get a bargain.

There's some refurbished Herman Millers and the like that go for a fraction of the new price, I would try and demo them though as certain models are a bit marmite for people.

which model did asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1you get am looking at their chairs now
Not sure if this link is allowed but here goes (delete if not allowed mods)

It won't compete with the Herman Miller chairs but myself and my wife both have these.

Herman Miller (HM) Aeron here (I'm slightly heavier than you) and I am very happy with it (should be for the price).
The Noble Hero has been relegated to guest use and was never comfortable (and it should have been for the price). One of the arms broke too.

How long do you spend in a chair? It's not worth skimping on, much like a mattress. You can probably get a refurb HM for your max budget.

Is there a John Lewis store near you?
They stock Herman Miller, Humanscale etc. as well as their own brand chairs and you can test them out in store.
After trying out their offerings at our local store, we're leaning toward the JL Murray ergonomic office chair.

Secretlabs Titan EVO in regular size... 170-189cm | < 100kg

Loads of different colours and trim options...

A while back I tried the noblechairs hero chair from OcUK and it was not very ergonomic. If you are going to be in it for long hours then I would recommend a fabric lined 24/7 operators chair.
