Hi

I'm looking to buy a new Laptop which will be used for web browsing, MS Office, photo editing and occasional video editing.

I'm looking to spend up to £500 so thinking Intel i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 processor. Today I have seen a laptop (see specs below) with an Intel i5 1035G1 processor. The benchmark looks decent but I haven't seen this processor before or been able to read any reviews on laptops using it.

Does anyone have any thoughts on it?

Base clock speed seems low at 1.0 GHz, is this an issue?

Do you think it will be suitable for my needs?

Regards

Simon

Will be more than good enough for your needs, its a low clock speed but will 'turbo' up when your doing work. It will fly through tasks with that CPU and SSD.

I've just bought that exact laptop. It's fast. And with the 512ssd it's a bargain at £500.
But also the fan is/was annoyingly whiny and was running either full speed or off and running a lot of the time.

Sent it back and am waiting for a replacement.
Also I ordered three Mauve one and it was a lot more purple than on the website, so I'm replacing it with the silver one

Thanks for the replies. I ended up buying the Laptop above. My wife has a My Rewards scheme through her workplace which reduced it to £460 and it seemed a decent buy to me, (not that I'm a follower of computer specs, just crash course when I need to).

Build is adequate for me in the home as it will be well looked after. Occasionally I hear the fan but it isn't obtrusive or annoying.

I've installed Paintshop Pro 2020 and it seems to perform slik and snappily, a decent improvement on my older laptop with an older version of PSP (X7). I've bought a copy of MS Office which I haven't yet installed but expect that to be a breeze.

All in all very pleased, thanks for the reassurance Biz.Kid09 and MassiveJim: )
