Hope this isn’t considered a medical thread, I know the rules are very strict on not allowing members to provide advice on ailments, however this question is just one of those silly little things I’d hope someone has an idea to help rid..

I’m prone to getting spots on the inside of my nose, sometimes its self inflicted as I tend to trim nose hairs as I don’t like them. Pulling a hair out with tweezers can sometimes leave an area that gets infected and creates a sore spot. Not a problem, some cream in the inside of the nose, and within a week its normally settled down…

However, this time, the spot has developed right on the outside of my left nostril. And it looks very sore, and ugly. I’ve put some anti-sceptic ointment on the affected areas, and the inside of the left nostril, but anyway to reduce the swelling faster? Any tips?

Reason I ask, I’m on a date this coming Saturday, and I’d like to have it reduced a little before I take a girl out….. Yeah, I know not the end of the world, but feeling a bit self conscious, can’t help getting a sore on your skin….. But best endeavours to reduce if I can…..

Again, hope its not medical, just looking for tips if any on how to reduce a sore quicker – if possible… We’ve all had um… lol

Some Retin-A cream will lower it quite quickly.

Or just use a little concealer if you're that worried, sure you mum/sister has some :p

I found my spots subsided considerably (ok i didnt have loads to start with, but would always get one spot that wouldnt go away for weeks) when i cut back on eating chocolate. Bit strange i know, and might just work for myself but i found that worked.

None of the Oxy or Witch Hazel stuff worked at all, and the best facial wash is the Simple stuff (only about £2.70 a bottle)

2.5% benzoyl peroxide should dry it up within a day or two. Whatever you do, don't get 10%. The 2.5% is just as good. Oxy do some, and Clearasil I believe, but you need to ensure it has 2.5% benzoyl peroxide in it otherwise it won't work. Also, it's a bleach so keep it away from clothing and make sure you wash your hands properly after applying it.

Toothpaste!

Is actually quite effective...

I find that a really hot bath to open the pores, some decent face wash I use something from boots thats has tea tree in it and a mild exfoliatior.

I do this twice a week and it really REALLY helps with spots, I get quite a lot too, or did since I started doing this.

When showering I still use the face wash not the exfoliatior.

Get some mosturiser as well.

I have had everthing from the docs apart from the mega strong on that has side effects of suiside!!

They all worked for a few weeks then came back, the only way I have found to keep on top of it is to do the above.

Re the oxytetracycline. I have been prescribed loads of different things and they all did nothing. In the end the only thing to clear my skin was to go on holiday to Croatia and swim in the sea everday and soak up the sun. So, go on a few days break before sat somewhere sunny :)

Cheers for all the ideas, I'll give um a go. However doubt I'll be able to get to see a GP before Sat, but nevermind.... Hopefully she'll not notice it - much..!!

It might go down before then, its still a couple of days away. Being optimistic that she'll not cancel on me... :D
