Looking for an external HDD

I am looking to buy an external HDD or two. I need about 500GB of storage for the time being. I will be using it for storing media such as film, pics etc...

I was thinking of using the HDD as a dedicated HDD for downloading to. is this a good idea? i would be using utorrent etc..

can somebody please recommend a decent HDD? any suggestions welcome!

I have had a look around and a few threads down an iomega 320gb hdd is recommended and at £55 that seems a bargain.

Would it be better to buy 2 of these for 640gb @ £110 or buy the 500gb western digi elements @ £79???

I dont want to spend too much money. I have a budget of £100-£120

if you look hard online the new 750GB MyBook can be had within your budget, USB 2 only though.

thanks for that recommendation. ill have a look into that.

is it better to have a few smaller sized ones or 1 big one? or doesnt it matter?

well I suppose if you only have one large disk and it fails you'll loose all your data (or have to restore everything from backup

) I like having one large external drive as it means less cables and only needs one power socket to run. you could partition the disk if you really wanted to keep things separate.
