Upside down CD or if you want to be really retro then an old floppy disk.
Someone I know has the firing pin end of an old WW2 88mm flak shell as his coaster - bit of a talking point!
I saw some of those little bearing maze games in coaster form which I thought looked quite smart.

I have an idea I want to try when I get home. A 92mm case Fan, with fiberglass resin poured in the middle, between the blades, filling it up to the top so it's all level. It might be cool. Probably be a little tall but I can cut it in half if need be. I'll keep you posted how it goes.

Well gave it a go. Turned out not bad actually. Because I used fiberglass resin it has a yellow tinge to it. I would have used acrylic resin had I had any but I think it's "ok". Will try a thinner thing with a mobo.
Seems a tad high, with an average coaster if you put your drink down in a hurry you might spill a bit over the edge..
With a deep coaster that drink will be in your keyboard.

I concur. Im still kind of sold on the Epoxy Idea thou. I'm going to try laying a few mm of epoxy over a cut mobo tonight.

That fan just seems like an accident waiting to happen, I want a webcam on you so when you misjudge the height and send the cup flying we have a YBF moment.
