I'm looking to venture into the world of AV. So far I've managed to buy a second hand KEF KTH 3000 Series 5.1 speaker system and a new TV stand with room for an AV receiver. Now I'm just need the receiver.

I've had my eye on DENON AVRX2200W - http://www.richersounds.com/product/av-receivers/denon/avrx2200w/deno-avrx2200-blk

It was down to £379 a few weeks ago which would've been great but now it's gone up in price, is there anything else I should consider?

I've just upgraded to the X2200W very good unit can't really fault it.

EDIT/ The only thing I'd say negatively about it is when you hold down the volume button it jumps massively doesn't just go up/down as you'd expect. You kind of have to tap/press the buttons instead.

Richer Sounds have the Pioneer VSX 930 for sale for £299 in the February edition of What Hifi,it appears to have everything bar DTS X

Different manufacturers tend to have different signatures.

Sony is very neutral for instance whereas yamaha is warmer.

Pick a sound signature you prefer then look at the manufacturers that cater to that market.

Peraonally i really like yamaha products.

I was in same boat, was looking at the same one, Luckily I picked up a x4200w for 700 in the mid jan deals. Cracking bit of kit. The on screen setup is idiot proof for first timers. :D

Just get the 2200 if it has what you need/like, Maranz is just a denon inside from what i've read but without the denon audio clever bit. May be wrong on that so check up if you are looking/shopping round.

Second hand. You'll get something very very nice indeed for £500 (Yamaha Z7 on AVForums at the moment for that) for example...

I've got the Denon 3200, apart from Spotify Connect being a pain at first, its awesome. I upgraded from an old Denon 2803.

The new one is simply awesome.

I have the Denon. Upgraded from a Sony STR-DN1050 after I had issues with the Sony.

Very pleased with it overall

sorry to thread hog...but I have the Sony 1050, what issues were you having?

mine has hdmi display issues, takes forever to change inputs over and sometimes loses signal when another plug socket is used.

No I went with the 2200. Very impressed so far!

Now you have used it for a while have you found the issue with the volume control on the remote? When you hold the volume button it just jumps massively instead of just going up/down as you would expect, well this happens for me anyway!

MarkLP, how old is it? Sticky buttons within the remote itself. Between rubber and PCB.
