I'm looking for a new wireless access point to replacing my aging Netgear WGT642 (running in access point mode). I'm not looking for anything too fancy but I would like to be future proof if possible (5ghz/802.11ac?), the main thing I'm looking for is stability. My old netgear has to be rebooted regularly to keep it running properly sometimes devices won't connect till it has been rebooted, a massive headache I'm looking to get rid of.
However I'm confused at which to pick, I've been pointed at business products for stability but I can't justify spending more than £100 for home use just for a laptop, wii and a couple of phones/tablets. I've picked out a range of options and I'd hope that someone could give me some pointers:
Budget option £36ish - TP-Link TL-WA901ND
Midrange £69ish - TP-Link TL-WDR4900 (5ghz - Router - run in access point mode?)
Top Budget £100ish - TP-Link Archer C7 AC1750 (5ghz/802.11ac - Router)
Over budget £130ish - Buffalo WAPS-APG600H (5ghz)
Business option £80ish - Cisco WAP121
Apple option £80ish - Apple Airport Express
The number of options in the midrange for just access points seems to be lacking and there is no clear winner. I'm leaning towards the cisco for just pure stability but it doesn't have 5ghz/802.11ac and I can't find any decent reviews for it, any input would be appreciated.
Please Note: I'm looking for just access point functionality all router functions are already provided by my linux firewall, so I guess I'm trying to avoid routers if possible unless convinced otherwise.
