Looking for RTS - CoH or C&C3 ?

It depends what you want
if you a want very very VERY fast paced, old skool RTS style game - then get C&C 3.
However if you want a slower paced, more tactical RTS game, with a MUCH better physics system and better graphics all round - the cameria is fully 3D like in Dawn of war, and on decent settings up close it has first person shooter quality graphics then get Company of Heroes

Company of heroes is fantastic.

Im not a huge RTS player but the game is just brilliant. Even my girlfriend played the tutorial and had fun lol.

Graphics are stunning, Detail of cover and advantages of certain troops is brilliant.

Top game.

And its only about £14 in supermarkets

Their both good, I generally enjoy playing C&C3 more ... thats just my gameplay style though. COH is good but i never end up playing it much, no where near as much as C&C3 anyway.

Out of CoH and CnC, it is CoH easily. However, ideally, I would go for CoH and Supreme Commander as the two best. They are exact opposites in the genre as well, so both are great.

Brilliant game - just brilliant

i agree, totally blew me away when i first played it, one of the most immersive and atmospheric rts's (if such a thing is possible). it's not easy though which is a good thing, reminds me of the Russian level in CoD, when you get dive bombed in the boat. i got it in a joint pack with DoW pretty much on release date, was a bargain :)

coh is brilliant- finish the single player and youve just scratched the surface of the game- months of non competitive or ladder online play ahead after that.
ive played about 10 hours a week online for the last 10 months +still get palpitations as a multiplayer ladder game loads up :p

What you're describing for coh is exactly how I was with the original red alert (thanks for the post, you triggered some good memories!).

What I find funny is that even though it was so simple compared to all the modern RTS games (and even Starcraft), I managed to end up playing it 'competitively' (no prizes back then just ego-boosting) online from the beginning of 1998 right through until the end of 2000 when I picked up age of empires 2. But that and every other RTS game I've tried since has failed to capture the sheer intensity I used to feel in literally every ladder game of red alert.

Has anyone else found they have been drawn in by only one RTS game with no others ever quite matching up to it?

It was ra2 and ta for me, supcom and c&c 3 were ok i think i belived some of the hype and felt a bit let down but coh is the best since ra2 for me dow was ok.
I only been playing coh for 3 weeks cannot belive i missed it for almost 12 months even love watching replays that people post on-line

COH is awesome.

I picked up the GOTY edition from my local Game for 20 quid.........(ironically, they had the 'standard' version next to it on the same shelf for....20 quid) :D

Are you lot looking forward to SC2? I'm surprised that a bunch of RTS fans don't mention the most popular RTS very much =/

it has a lot to beat, and good graphics dont make it an awesome game, same with c&c3 i reckon.

will NEVER EVER beat red alert 1

Erm... SC2 has crap graphics...

StarCraft is the most popular RTS.

well then looks like theres no point in releasing it. from the vids ive seen it introduces nothing new in terms of sc gameplay, so why bother buying a newer version when it can be played in all its 2D glory.

You've been watching some weird ass videos then, as the ones I've seen show an awful lot of change =/

I've never played SC *cowers in the corner*

I've seen a development video for SC2 and the developers really do seem enthusiastic about the product they're making. If they stick to what made the original great, it should be great according to the following SC receives.

Completed it, and online wasn't very fun.

Besides the total war series, it's the only RTS I ever really played so I don't have an awful lot to compare it to :)
