I friend told me about one that you can actually simply drag your mouse over the specific area that you want to capture and then it saves it automatically to jpg; rather than saving to do print screen, paste into paint and then crop any ideas?

If you have Microsoft Office 2010 and have OneNote, Windows key + S will allow you to capture a selection of the screen and copy it to the clipboard. Otherwise the Snippit Tool that comes with Windows 7 is pretty good.

I would use the snipping tool you can assign short cuts here is a guide

or if you use Firefox or Google chrome get the add on FireShot with the simple right click you can choose what to do from the menu.
