Just bought a graphics card from this website to upgrade from my gt220. First day of the install games were running smooth But yesterday i was playing league of legends in the morning and i had a serious case of lag, very delayed reactions and hard to control cursor. I restarted the game and everything went fine.
Lastnight i was playing lord of the rings online went for about half hour without any problems then it was suddenly doing the same thing as it did with league of legends. I tried restarting which didnt work, latency and fps was fine and my internet speed was running max. So i had to call it a night after it ruined my gaming.
This morning ive just tried lotro again, within 10mins of playing it started doing it again. I then went on league of legends to test it and it was working fine until the 12min mark where it started it again. My fps was jumping between 30 and 60 fps, i tried restarting the game but that didnt do anything this time.
Ive never experianced a problem like this before and im really hoping its not the graphics card as i spent months saving up to get it. Anyhelp will be appreciated here.

Hi there,

May I ask what PSU you are running in your machine?

Also, are both the 6 pin PCIe power connections properly inserted into the card?

its 650w, recently upgraded also.

They are both connected securely.

Just had a 20min battle on empire-totalwar on high spec with no lag watsoever. Beginning to think its more to do with internet gaming.

thats the product i bought.

Ah, well to be honest that isn't a very good quality PSU (£24 - 650W) - for a start it only has a single PCIe connection. I presume you plugged in the molex to PCIe power connection to make up for this?

If you want to check if the card is stable and cooled properly then I suggest running it on furmark for a minute or two.

Aye, always a possibility. However, further testing should identify if you do have a problem with your system.

dont really know what im doing with furmark but i went for 6mins stability testing, fullscreen 1680x1050 my temp reached 91 and my fps averaged at 71. didnt want to run it to long as i had no idea what i was really doing lol.

im pretty new to all this but from what i know everything is connected to something. all cables go to the psu. i followed the instruction manual as best as i could.

I doubt it's your PSU, doesn't seem consistent with the kind of time delayed slowdown you're experiencing.

If it's only with online games, then something's gumming up your net connection most likely.

i dont know its all confusing me. just had 3 games on league of legends only in the first game the fps went abit rampant but only between 50 and 60 fps. Looks like im going to have to give it some time and keep trying to narrow it down. Thanks for the advice i shall be back most likely haha. Very helpful bunch you are. :)

It sounds like your internet connection tbh if empire ran fine but lotro and the other game didn't, do you have lots of downloads running in the background?

Not to detract from the rest of the thread but i think looking at your current psu i would save up a bit more and get one of these corsair cx 500w psu's as i wouldn't trust a "650w" Cit psu with anything really

I've once had a power supply cause bluescreens and shorts when I plugged too much crap into it, but I can't honestly see how even the cheapest is going to slow down your graphics card AFTER 10 MINUTES.

I'd stick with it unless you start seeing problems that are definitely related to power requirements.

just tried lotro again and 15mins playing and it did it again. im hoping its just the two games and its a coincidence. lotro going ftp so ill wait for that update then see if its fixed. Really have no idea what is causing this odd behaviour ive got nothing running in the background no downloads nothing at all. Ingame theres a chain thats says how my connection is and its perfect. just gave anno 1404 10mins and its doing it on there and ive closed it and my cursor is still jumping about making it hard to control infact my whole pc is starting to lag
