so out of touch with PCs...

Looking for a page/YT vid that explains how FSB affects memory speed etc....how everything works basically

I used to overclock years ago (e8400) but have forgot everything....not even sure what’s still relevant

Tried googling/searching YT but obv there’s so much choice/out of date info etc so hopefully someone can recommend a source

Cheers

On modern cpu's suck as K chips theese have unlocked multipliers which does not affect the ram , Ram overclocking can be done seperatly.

Do you have a specifc cpu in mind ?

nothing definite

was looking at i5 8400 but nothing else yet...always had Intel so prob Intel

not even planning on overclocking tbh but jut want to refresh/update my own memory! ie I completely forgot about the multiplier but remember now you mention it :)

Can't really OC the 8400 anyway. Intel have got very stingy about what you can change to what CPUs. AMD a little more generous, but unfortunately you get fairly limited gains.

As far as people worth reading. Gamers nexus (linked here) tend to go fairly in depth with all of their stuff.

thanks will have a look at that site...as I say not too bothered about overclocking but good to know the details anyway

searching for "<name of cpu/board etc> vs" and seeing what comes up is providing a lot of answers :)
