Shame you’re set on a coupe as £10k would still get you a nice S2000. Definitely go and drive one before you make up your mind as the whole setup is really exciting and the engine is a peach.

Fast, fixed roof for £10k would mean a 350Z or an M3 for me. GT86’s are approaching budget too.

I found when I was looking at E46 M3s it was around 13k for ones with mileage that I wanted. The guy in the garage I bought my Megane from had an E46 m3 himself and he said if I wanted a car to have fun in and not worry about adding the mileage or maintenance then the megane was probably a better shout. It was either a Megane with cup pack and recaros and 40k miles or an m3 with at least 60k and nearly ten years older.

Exactly. If you just want something entertaining you don't buy a leggy, questionable or undoubtedly expensive to run M3.
