Looking for something simalir to PS3 - Media Center?

Not sure where else to post this as its not to do with gaming.

The only thing I use my ps3 for these days is tranferring TV Shows from my PC via Red Kawa File Server to my PS3 and watching them on my tv.

Is there any other bits of hardware that can do this apart from the ps3? i would like to give it to a member of family who loves to play games and would get much better use out of it.

So something that can store and play mainly avi, but mkv etc would be a bonus! and that i can transfer it easily from my pc to the storage "box".

a mini-ITX box.

Uses about 10 watts at full draw, can handle any file you throw at it, connect to your network for streaming from a central computer or connect a 1tb drive and have movies on that.
