Hi,

Looking to see if there is anyone who would look to support with getting a site back online for a small club - Payment can be made if needed.

I have reached out to the company who provided the site however am getting no response.

Essentially the site was being hosted on my account at FastHosts.

I have now left the club and advised that I would no longer be hosting the site.

Another member of the club has set up their own fasthosts account. Domains have been transferred successfully.

I downloaded the entire file structure from the hosting account and uploaded this to the new hosting account thinking this would just "work". Alas when visiting the site now it just says "error" and it is beyond my skill level of getting it up and running again.

If someone would be willing to take a look then I am sure the club will pay for the time spent to get it back up and running.

Thanks

What platform was the website built on? WordPress, or similar?
It's likely to have a database as well as the files.

You'll need to make a backup of the database in your hosting account and send it to the person with the new hosting to restore.
It's then likely that the host server address and username/password for connecting to the new database will need updated (the new details will be visible in the databases section of the new hosting account). If using wordpress, these details need updated in the wp-config.php file. Other website platforms will have similar config files for this.

edit: sorry, just realised you said Joomla in the title. The configuration file to update once you've restored the db is called configuration.php and the values to change are $host, $user, $password and $db (database name). $dbtype and $dbprefix will stay the same.

If you don't get a response here, this is the kind of thing you could post on one of the freelancer sites such as peopleperhour.com, fiverr.com or freelancer.com. Would probably need careful vetting though. There is a support forum on joomla but I'm not sure if they can give commercial recommendations. The most reliable way to get it done is find a local web design firm that specialises in Joomla, that you can go and see, although this might also be the most expensive.

Thanks for the above.

I am getting some support - I did not download the database (I didn't know this was a thing - Just assumed all the website files would be all I would need). Painfully now trying to get the hosting company to see if they can recover a backup, but they are being difficult.

You live and learn.

Well this is now all sorted.

Thank you MASSIVELY to the forum member who supported me to get this all done...... A huge weight off my shoulders :)
