You don't need a degree to fix and build computers. You'll not recoup the investment you make in the cost of the course.

Would this course be a good one to take to pursue a career in fixing/building computers etc.

So how old are you? 15/16? Set your sights higher than a career in fixing and building computers. Anyone can do that (this forum has 1000s of members, all who can do this). You don't even need a qualification to do that. Heck, I worked in a computer repair shop when I was 14, that's how easy it is. It's dead end.

Fixing computers is not good pay and is likely to have zero progression opportunities.
Maybe you should push yourself further and do something a bit more academic?

Ideas? I don't know what else to do xD - Cost is no worry

Engineering/Maths/Science.
Don't limit yourself, 1 year ago I was in the same position where I was unsure what I wanted to do and I am now applying for EEE.
Playing with computers can be a side hobby, doing it 20 times in terrible cheap plastic £20 cases is not going to be enjoyable.

Good Luck! Sounds fun xD - I can do Science, maths isn't a strong point.
3 years of preperation for uni... serious?

110%

That HND would make you way overqualified for PC build, that's easily enough to run a large IT dept with a bit of experience.

HND maths is a bit easier than the degree level stuff, the rest is much the same.

Learn a high level programming language and get some qual for it. Or networking and server related qualifications like the microsoft and cisco ones. Getting a degree is good, but make sure it covers specific areas, most computer science degrees look rubbish on paper. I've worked in IT for 2 years and I'm now doing a Computer Network Management Degree as that is where I feel the demand will be in 3 years.

Anyone can answer a phone on helpdesk or replace PC components. Follow the money! :)
