Hay guys i want to start out easy so to speak so was thinking of getting this

XSPC X2O Pro CPU Watercooling Kit

I also want to add a northbridge water block would be able to do that ok with that kit ?

I think all i would need is more tubing right? + northbridge water block.

And maybe later a gpu cooling ?

If that kits no good for what i am asking for whats the min price for custom stuff for a noob it don't have to be the best or anything like :D
And at first i only really need cpu and northbridge cooling.

Cheers for any help :)

( my case is a mozart TX so i got the room :)

It'll be fine, just don't expect miracles from it as although it's all basically good stuff, the single 120mm radiator will ultimately not dump as much heat as a bigger one. For the Northbridge block you want a Swiftech MCW30 and you'll need 3/8" tubing (I'd probably buy a full meter as it doesn't go off). The MCW30 comes with good clamps so you don't need those.

The pump on that kit is plenty good enough to take a 240mm or 360mm radiator and I would suggest you go to at least a 240mm radiator before you think about upgrading the loop to a gpu block.

I think that's all the advice I would give, except to point out that it probably won't be quiet unless you swap the fan for a PWM Scythe or Arctic Cooling so you can plug it into the CPU fan header. I was quite shocked how little a non-overclocked E8400 brought the fan into play on a PA120.1 system when it was driven off the motherboard header.

Thanks for the advice helped a lot.

And got me to sort look at custom bits and i don't if what i picked is any good but it sort the same price as the pre made kit only like £50 or so more

XSPC X2O Delta CPU Waterblock V2

XSPC Single 200 Bay Reservoir Pump

XSPC RS240 Radiator

Tuniq TX-2 Thermal Compound

Feser One Cooling Fluid - UV RED ( how many bottles would i need? )

3/8" Clear High Flex Hose (not sure how many meters i would need)

Mikalor Wormdrive Clip 3/4" OD (10 Pack)

Swiftech MCW30 northbridge water block

Hows that look and am i missing anything ?

cheers :D

Don't use 3/8" hose, use 7/16" or 1/2" instead as it gives better flow. Don't bother with Feser. Just go down to your local Halfaord or supermarket and buy a bottle of distilled/deionised water. Around £3.99 for 5ltrs. Then just add something like Zerex to it.

That's horrible. You're on a tight budget, but you're spending money on coloured fluid? And Feser is significantly worse at transferring heat than water. Premixed antifreeze from Halfrauds does a better job in all honesty, but you really just need water.

The water block transfers heat from the CPU, Northbridge or GPU so unless that's good the rest of the system could be fantastic and you'd still get carp results.

The radiator is what transfers the heat from the water to the air forced through it by the fan. You need to match the fan to the radiator. A densely finned radiator (like the XSPC one) needs a fan with plenty of shove to get the air through it. That's going to be noisier than a more open combination.

The pump moves the fluid about. Pumps have two important-ish numbers - the flow rate and the head. The flow rate is how fast the pump can move water and the head is how hard it can push the water.

The XSPC kit comes with a 400lph 1.65m head eheim pump that's actually quite good. It'll easily cope with a CPU, northbridge and GPU block loop. The X20 Delta CPU block is very good indeed and the radiator is the same unit as supplied by Alphacool and several others. It will quite happily cool a CPU and Northbridge loop. For the money that kit is a decent buy. Add in the MCW30 Northbridge block and a meter of 3/8" tubing and you're away. As and when you get the urge to add a GPU block then you'll need an upgrade, but rather than try and make the XSPC something it's not, why not sell that on Member's Market so someone else can get the benefit of a water-cooling starter kit and buy a complete set of components, possibly even second-hand ones from MM - once you know what you need, the kits are much less attractive, but they do offer a brilliant way to get started.

Thanks for the great info again WJA96 :D

So that kits good for cpu/chipset/gpu if i wanted to add them later.

And just say if i had £150 tops to spend on a custom water cooling what would be the parts you buy your for your self ?

Just so like a list cose i probs go custom if its not to much more then the pre made kit cose i still have to add the Northbridge and maybe GPU blocks anyways later on.

Thanks :)

Well, thats what i have :) With that kit you would also be future proofed if you wanted to add a couple of graphics blocks etc ..

Note: I am by no means a WC guru so please do not take the above spec as being the best way forward. It's simple a good option. As stated by Cob (in another thread), there are plenty of cheeper options that will provide > 80 % the performance of the above.

Cheers

So this lot would be over £150 easy but it may be worth it but not sure yet lol

Or i may start with the pre made kit just to start out with hehe

I have a Thermochill PA 120.3 radiator complete with fans and grill for sale on the Members market in case you might be interested:)
