Looking to add 6Gb Ram

Ah, in that case you may want to bear in mind that adding extra RAM will invalidate your warranty and you will have to reconfigure your overclock - as your current settings will not work with all your RAM slots filled.

This is because filling all the RAM slots will memory modules puts extra stress on your memory controller (which is on the CPU). This means that you will need to re-do your overclock and you will find it considerably harder to achieve 4GHz CPU frequency with 6 sticks, compared to just 3. It will also mean you may have to run your RAM at below rated speed to achieve stability.

One way to get round this is to get a 12GB (3x4GB kit), however these are usually not rated as fast as your existing sticks (though tbh the real-world performance will be the same) and they cost more per GB.

Thanks for the heads up on the OC.

I was already warned I might have to run them at 1333, but I didn't figure of having to re-do the oc. Looks like ive got a bit of reading up to do on settings and whatnot.

Cheers... have one up the QM for me :D

Just wanted to add a wee note.

Ram arrived within 14 hours after order w00t!!!

I just slotted it all in and didnt change a thing in bios.... it all seems to stable enough. certainly not had any issued in Aftereffects.

So all in all a result... i hope :D

cheers

I'd do a memory stability check anyway. Memtest for 4 passes or so would be my choice.
