So I've got my eyes on an ASUS VE248H 24" LED backlit ( so yeah its not proper LED ) to replace an Iiyama E2407HDS which was a fantastic monitor and never gave me any problems except I think the colour needed adjusting. I also hear many many good things about the BENQ monitors I'm not a 3D gamer; I have a GTX580 rig and I'm happy to go upto £200 give or take £50. Any savings would be a bonus. Just thought I'd ask general opinions before I make a purchase. Also I really love the Iiyama monitors I had a 17" monitor years and years ago and remembered they were a really brilliant make but I have heard the performance is not quite as good these days but if anyone has lots of good things to say about Iiyama monitors it would be appreciated. I really like ASUS products too; my graphics card and motherboard is asus.

great thanks guys any suggestions for 120hz monitors; not for 3D gaming more for good fps as I am more than likely always going to have the latest graphics card / thinking about a dual gpu 690 or 790 hopefully the next big investment.

What about this Asus IPS?

I hear Dell and HP monitors are very good but there is something that puts me off Dell. Nothing good to say about the Asus VE248H it got the best reviews for a 24" monitor in most benchmarks. I don't really have a problem with viewing angles I just sit straight in front of it.

and finally is it worth going for a 27" instead of a 24" will it allow me to see more; as I'm occasionally headshot by people who I can barely see and their heads show up as little dots on the screen when we are both using red dot scopes or holo? So I looked at an Asus VK278Q LCD Monitor 27-inch but they are not on Overclockers UK.

Now I am being told 120hz mode is only for 3D gaming and video playback is this true? If so there is no point getting a 120hz monitor; I don't think I'm that sure about 3D gaming :S

Oh no my mate Nathan told me but I usually recommend him stuff. My last recommendation was a Vertex 4 and it flies! I am thinking of getting the Asus 27" 3D monitor package with Nvidia glasses for £500 if I can run 120hz mode I'd be pretty happy. Does that eliminate tearing a lot? I guess 3D gaming could be fun :-)

I don't really need a monitor that is adjustable and can spin around on it's axis and do backflips; and I'm not a professional artist I'm not big into dell as a manafacturer despite quality products I feel their price per performance is not so good ratio and I'm now looking more into the Asus VG278H 27" TRUE 120Hz 3D Widescreen LED Monitor with NVIDIA 3D Vision 2.0 Glasses which in my opinion has much more features better contrast ratio faster response time and far less ghosting than the Dell; plus it's only in midnight grey and looks plasticy whereas Asus monitors have a really nice matte black to go with the rest of my computer equipment which is black. Did I mention a free copy of Borderlands 2.... :-)

I really looked hard into the specs of the U2412M as a monitor is fantastic but doesn't match my needs personally. Such as 1080p over 1200p 120 hz over 60hz and 2ms response over 6ms.

1080p on a 27" it's quite low res for such a big screen you sit close too especially a TN one... For the price of that Asus I would be looking at one of the 1440p screens and not bother with 120hz & 3D....

The 2412 I have is Matt black and has no ghosting. The build quality is far better than most other brands and you also get a 3 year swapout warranty which to me is worth the price alone.

Asus warranties are normally 3 years also; I know the 23" Asus 3D monitor is not so good at 3D but apparently has great 2D image quality. I'm completely confused now :P what are the advantages mainly of an IPS panel because I really like the Asus 24" VE248H. I think I need a little more convincing on the advantages of a Dell IPS monitor. What's performance like @1440p with a single GTX580 do you think I'd need to grab a 680? I have an Asus DirectCUII and can clock it to 952mhz core which is a massive boost in frame rate as long as it stays over 60fps I'm happy. I played Witcher 2 with Ubersampling @ 30fps and I just felt like I was playing the game at half the speed.
