things at home are turning for the worst so i reckon its time to fly the nest.

ill be moving to stoke for a couple of years and i did a little research and for under £300 per month i can get a decent first place to rent

im a first year apprentice at the moment so money isnt great so i may end up sharing with a few other people on the apprenticeship

is £300 a month realistic? what are peoples experiences when moving out for the first time and what is there to be aware of?

why stoke? speaking as someone who has move away its a place of litle prospects (still love it though)

£300 a month seems very cheap what area is it?

haha i wish it was for that reason. my depot for the apprenticeship is in fenton stoke so i want to be close

ive been looking at sites like zoopla and it doesnt seem to expensive.

http://www.zoopla.co.uk/to-rent/details/17847185?search_identifier=0eedd5bb2f4451daebb32b6f591ba3c3

only 10 min cycle or 6 min drive from the depot.

but im confused as to the pricing. it says £47 per room per person and per week.

does that mean 3x£47= £141 per week if i moved in on my own?

can you tell ive never moved out :P

right i think thats quite close to the Uni? Those places are not the nicest if i honest hence the price, area isnt the best but not the worst. Its certainly geared for students more

The price says £207 pcm so thats £207 a month. Dont forget about Council Tax!

if you need any help witht he area let me know, Ive just moved out myself for the first time to Sheffield, I didn't like the idea of sharing a house so i moved out on my own :D

It will be the lowest band, Think it might be about £81 a month but not 100% sure, If you havent been to stoke before the City Centre is Hanley , not stoke! (total dump) all the shopping and nightlife is in Hanley

oh sorry i was looking at another user with locatiion "south west" my mates have rented similar types of cheap places like that and they all say you have to be careful with the people you live with, those sorts of prices and stundet areas attract some "undesirable" types :D

so i take it you are driving to work From Nantwich right now? How much is your absolute MAX you can spend on just the rent?

well £300 is my upper limit, i might be able to survive on £400 but that is literally half my wage. im still training till end of the year down at tipton in dudley now (company paid hotel with all expenses during the week) so i wont be moving till next year if i do even move. i just want to have as much info as possible.

The advert states it's a four bedroom place so you'd be paying for the four bedrooms *£204pcm if you were to just move in yourself and there were no housemates i.e. £816 pcm. It's possible that the landlord would give you a discount for moving in by yourself but I'd doubt it and you've stated you can't really afford that much money anyway. However I suspect you won't get the choice, the landlord is likely to want all rooms taken so they'll either expect you to bring in up to four people or they'll either have other people to take up the spare rooms anyway.

If it's registered as student housing then the landlord may not wish to rent it to someone who isn't a student for council tax reasons so you may want to find out if your apprenticeship counts as you being a student for council tax purposes.
