looking to move out

I can't help with shared accommodation or areas in Stoke, but a word of warning, there are a lot more costs to worry about on top of rent and council tax.

Here's my outgoings for myself and gf living in a 2 bed semi:
Gym 20.00
Council Tax 148.00
TV License 24.25
Gas + Electricty 52.00 (ave)
Water supply 6.85
Water disposal 22.70
Phone + Broadband 25.00 (ave)
Home Insurance 17.38
Life insurance 20.98
Car insurance 34.71
Car tax 10.83
Lovefilm 7.99
Mortgage 771.65
Groceries 220.94 (ave)
Petrol 57.23 (ave)
Total £1416.51

Obviously some of these costs will be less if sharing with others, some may not be applicable if renting, and also depends greatly on your lifestyle.

Thought about moving into a proper house share? Spareroom.co.uk is normally best site to search for them. A lot of these have bills included with the rent so its just one single payment you need to worry about.

Worth a thought if you dont mind sharing. You could find something quite close to work as well.

£220 a month for food for 2 people?
We spend around £400
This argument comes up every time someone posts their monthly outgoings. In the another thread someone claimed to live off £40 a month, and I'm sure some people spend more than you do. Everyone is different!

you seem to be paying for two tv licenses.
The first 6 months costs double if paying by DD. Unless you pay a year up front in which case you don't have to

But the last guy wasn't including dinners and lunches bought out, which was silly. :p

We hardly eat out or have takeaways, and rarely buy lunches as I tend to cook meals which we can have the next day as well. It's not like we by Taste The Difference this and Finest that, but similarly we don't buy basics/value everything.

Well that was silly then!

But as I said, I'm sure there are plenty of people that spend less than I do. I cook quite a few meals in bulk and freeze them which saves money and time.
