Hi All,

Hoping you can help. I'd like to move my current PC components to the smallest case possible. I really don't know where to start with this so fingers crossed I've come to the right place.

Here are my current components:

Competitor link removed

Any questions please let me know.

Thanks

Link doesn't work for me, do you have ATX board and PSU and are smyou swapping them out for itx or micro ATX?

@Vapour

Hi and welcome,

Please remember this forum is run by and paid for by Overclockers UK Retailer so please only use their own shop links or just list your budget and requirements (or a spec list) and I'm sure you'll get some help, thanks
:)

Gotcha!

Here are my current PC specs - whats the smallest case I can get?

Intel Core i5 4670K Haswell Processor Overclocked to up to 4.4GHz
Corsair Hydro Series H55 Liquid Cooler
Gigabyte Z87N-WIFI M-ITX Motherboard - Haswell CPU only
16GB Corsair/Crucial PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3 Memory (2 x 8GB sticks)
Corsair CX 750W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified PSU
Samsung SSD 840 Evo 120GB
Samsung SSD 850 Evo 250GB
Nvidia GeForce GTC 1070

Thanks

Typical ATX Meshify C or Corsair 220T are two of the smallest

Slimmer is thermal take core G3 or there is a rioatorro case but I forget the model number

If you want smaller you need ITX

Silverstone SG13. It's pretty much the smallest case with ATX PSU support. Bonus; it's (fairly) cheap.

But what do you want from a case? How much do you want to spend? And how much of the build are you willing to change?

The requirement is all about space really hence the smaller case. I have a budget of about £100 if that makes any difference to my options?

Pretty much bang on the size limit.

Biggest problems will be the PSU length (SG13 only officially supports up to 150mm long PSUs) combined with it being a non-modular PSU. Still possible to make it work. But it won't be the world's most fun build :D

Going bigger than that, there's the Fractal Design Core 500 and Node 304, Cougar QBX, Cooler Master Elite 130, Bitfenix Prodigy and Raijintek Metis Evo. Most of those are quite old designs now. But the Metis launched late last year and offers more modern features like tempered glass side panels and compatibility with multiple AIO radiator sizes.

Thanks

Would you say the SG13 would be doable for someone with limited previous build experience? Would it be better to get another cheap PSU?

My first case was an Antec Nine Hundred, which was pretty big. My second was an SG05, which is smaller than the SG13. And my third was the SG13. So I'd say yes. It's a tight case. But it helps that you can get in there from the top and both sides.

The H55 is one of the best coolers for that case too, which is a bonus.

Yup.

Only thing I'd add is get the mesh front version (the one you linked to - comes in black, white and pink). There's also a version with a solid front panel. It looks nicer. But airflow becomes an issue. I had the solid version and always regretted it.

Here's a build that will be similar to yours: https://www.reddit.com/r/sffpc/comments/cv2n4t/this_build_was_really_fun_silverstone_sg13

You'll have to ditch the drive cage due to the PSU length. But as you're only using SSDs, this isn't likely to be a problem. Just stash them wherever there's room.

Hi,

I do got the case and put all the components I’m apart from the PSU which doesn’t fit as the power connectors are blocked by the casing.

Is there any other case that is just slightly bigger?

Blocked by the case itself? Or the drive cage? If you're just using SSDs, you can ditch the drive cage and stash them pretty much anywhere.

Oh. So the PSU itself fits, and the GPU fits, but you can't plug the GPU power connectors in due to a clearance issue?

That could be fixable. Is there space for connectors like these?

If not, take a look at the Fractal Design Core 500.
