Hey everyone.

I've always liked the idea of a "gaming" laptop but always thought it would be useless after the GPU became too underpowered after a few years.

With the arrival of thunderbolt 3 and external GPUs it kind of solves that problem and I'm looking into them again. I've tried looking into the GPU dock devices but its a bit confusing what laptops are usb-c and which are thunderbolt. The only external GPU dock thingy I can see actually for sale is the alienware one. Also are these docks cross compatible between MSI, gigabyte, dell etc?

Anyway, here's what I'm after.

Good quality 1440p screen 15"-17"
I7 6700hq
16gb ram
Nvidia 970m preferably
Thunderbolt 3
An option for M.2 drives but i don't need one straight away
128gb-250gb SSD and 1TB 7200rpm drive
Decent backlit keyboard
Decent sound card

I don't mind a bit of noise but nothing excessive. If I do any long gaming sessions I'll be using the external GPU so a 980 will be overkill and just a big heat source.

Any input will be appreciated, I'm new to this game :p

Cheers
