Looking to replace RMAing 3060 TI - I need it for work!

So a bit of background on my hectic few months with this PC - and a slight followup - links are from reddit

I've since then replaced the CPU, CPU fan and PSU, it seems better however the GPU is still having issues!

I'd consider both brands and I currently have a Ryzen 5800X CPU, and a TT Toughpower GF1 850W Gold PSU

My current 'Gigabyte 3060 Ti Eagle Rev 1' seems to have fan issues - gets loud when I play games but the major issue now is that when I play a game (Hitman in this example) my screen will just turn off randomly and I'll hear a grinding noise coming from the fan
I'm going to RMA it but I still will need a replacement card for work/gaming and I'd rather have a better card now I can afford it to be honest, so I don't mind doing a side-grade or a slight upgrade - I'm just unsure what to look for as it's been awhile since I've had to care

I'd appreciate a decent UK warranty and I have a budget of around £450 and no more than £500

Thanks in advanced

What applications do you use for work? This will largely dictate what options are available to you. If it's anything that actually uses the GPU then it's likely you'll have to stay with nVidia (assuming CUDA accelerated), but if you just need a display output then AMD could be an option.

Either way, you still won't get much of an upgrade for under £500, 3070 start just above that and on the AMD side you could get a 6750XT for a little over £400 or a 6800 for £550.

If at all possible I'd just wait on the RMA tbh....and maybe pick up a very cheap (older) 2nd hard card to see you through that time.

We should see midrange options from both nV and AMD later in the year but it's looking increasingly likely that they will be worse value and/or nothing in the sub £500 bracket

My apologies I have ASD/ADHD and my brain runs a mile a minute when my PC is limping

I work in video editing but also stream and play video games

As for programs it's Adobe suite, mostly premiere pro and after effects, but I'm considering moving to Davinci Resolve, and OBS

I could wait but I have a Gigabyte Eagle 3060 TI Rev 1.0 and I just feel it's kinda budget, but I could still sell it to make up most of the cost for a better/quieter card

No problem! Ok, so for your video editing work, is that in Adobe Premiere?
If so I think nVidia is likely the best for your use case, as I said there isn't really much available there for under £500 except for a 3060ti. Intel dGPU may get there in a few years but would seem a bit risky to invest in that for professional use.
Similarly, nVidia seems to be way ahead in most people's estimations for streaming use.

So either another 3060ti, or slightly exceed your budget and get a 3070.....
Unless you can convince your employer that a 4080/4090 would provide a worthwhile uplift in your productivity? ;)

I'd replied before I saw your edit.....

I use OBS for capturing gameplay, but I use the x264 renderer so can't comment on the differences between NVENC and (AMD) ReLive for that, though I hear both are now very good.

Adobe/Resolve, I again can't comment directly as I use Vegas 18 for editing....That said, I'm 99% sure both support CUDA (so nVidia preferred)

If you can still find one, the Founders Edition cards have a very premium and well built feel to them IMO (I have a 3060ti Founders), but I think they are not getting re-stocked now that the 40 series are out.

If you can tolerate the downtime (both in work and play), then RMA/selling your card, plus the £500 you mentioned on top (if that was your intention), would put you up to 4070ti or near.....
There is no founders edition 4070ti being made and I don't know enough about current gen aftermarket coolers to advise, although Zotac do offer 5yr warranty, as long as you register the card with them within 30 days (but they do have a rep for being a bit noisier than other brands!).

Hope that is at least some help!

Heh it's mostly freelance work sadly!

I was looking at a MSI Gaming Trio X 3060 TI but also an ASUS TUF 3060 TI/3070

Both decent cards as far as I know, but equally both companies I've heard can be a bit lacking for warranty handling....then again they all are these days with EVGA gone!

I found a hexus review with both cards (as well as the eagle) mentioned, and they both seem to beat it by a fair margin for noise:

(and yeah I'd agree the Eagle looks a bit more cheap and plastically than the alternatives!)

Aye I read that the TUF too is really good from a cooling POV for the price

I have a Meshify C case with 2 intake and 2 outtake fans too, but if anything better cooling for the card itself is always good I think!

Thank you for helping me process it a bit more - it's much appreciated! I think I can get an ASUS TUF 3070 at the moment for about £4 more than the 3060 TI... I might as well just go for that.
