Looking to upgrade and need some advice!

Firstly, budget and what res-refresh rate is your monitor ? is it freesync or g-sync at all ?

you might get away with a 2nd hand i7 and gtx 1070 and your good to go. or if you fancy a new part refresh for warranty purposed ryzen has come in at a good price . Mobo, cpu,ram and GPU and your good to go!

Shame your Gigabyte board wasnt the Black edition as you get a free or mostly free upgrade to newer gen :(

Budget would be about 500 pounds, but can stretch a bit further over a few months if need be.

My monitor is aBenQ XL2411Z 24 inch 144 Hz. With regards to free/g sync I have no idea, not even sure what they are truth be told!

seems your screen is DVI cable only for 144hz and not bound to eiterh amd or nvidia

seems you should be able to pick up an i7 4790k for £150 maybe and then pick up a GTX 1070

Maybe sink some cash into an AIO 240 so you can overclock the pants off the i7 :)

Ah thanks. Is the aio 240 a cooler? I've not bothered to overclock my current processor so that'll be fun

How long do you think these additions will future proof for? Sorry for all the questions, I have very little idea about what I'm doing!

Overclocked my 1st gen i7 lasted 6 years :)
So should last you a good few more

It's all very well saying get a i7 4790k but with only 13 posts the op is miles away from getting MM access so he would have to pay the prices on the bay which would be around £220-250. Get a new gpu and overclock the 4690k to around 4.5Ghz and see how you get on.
