My rig is 2 meg ram bog standard
amd 3800 + overclocked 2.53 speed
asus mb.
sammy 22ins S panel [waves willy!]:D

i play mainly call of duty 4 ,and my card suffers a little with it at times.

budget up to 150 pounds,and i need to see a good improvement.

3870xt is the best in that price range...otherwise the 8800GT is better if you can stretch the budget
 
pre owned 8800GTS ( prior models not the newer one ) or an 8800 GT pre owned could be yours for £150 ish. wouldn't bother with the 3870 it's a fantastic card but you'll kick yourself if it's all about performance.

3850 owner before anyone flings out the ol' "fanboi" tag, truth is truth. both the above have more "Ooomph" than a 3870 / 3850. had op said he wanted quiet + cool + low ppower requirments + a gain in performance I'd have pointed him amd/ati's way

in fairness with a 22" I take it your at 1650 x 1080 then you NEED a new cpu to take advantage of any upgrade in the gpu, if you slot a 3870 / 8800 into your current system your going to be stung by the cpu methinks.
