Hi all!
As is customary when I consider upgrading my PC I thought it would be best to consult the OCUK forums for your wisdom and expertise!
I purchased AC:Origins today and was somewhat upset to find that it does not currently support Multi-GPU Setups! However I am figuring that this is a good opportunity to update the computer I built which has started to lag behind. I was also never really happy with the 4K performance so I just wanted to see what the general consensus was
I Currently have 2 290xs in crossfire, however I was thinking of upgrading to a 1080 or possibly a 1080ti, but I am concerned about bottlenecking (I am also looking forward to the PC release of FFXV which recommended a 1080 for 4k gaming!) I also believe that the reduction in power consumption and heat would be good although not currently an issue.
My question is will the other parts of my system be a medium to heavy bottle neck on the 1080/1080ti?
My current spec is as follows:
Gigabyte Z97X-SLI
i5 4690K
Asus Radeon R9 290X ROG Matrix 4096MB GDDR5 (Crossfire)
Asus Radeon R9 290X Direct CU2 (Crossfire)
Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 2x4GB DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz
Crucial BX100 250GB SSD
I upgraded the PSU a little while back and can't remember exactly, but I believe its a modular Corsair PSU, either 750 or 850w
NZXT Source 340 Case
I suppose the processor is getting a bit old now but I am just trying to weight up the best upgrade path. I am willing to spend the money to get a 1080/1080ti, possibly a little more but trying to avoid getting a new CPU AND a 1080.
Thanks in advance!
