Hi all need advice, I want to upgrade my cpu/gpu and motherboard, currently have Ryzen 5 1600, Rx 580 8gb and ASRock AB350M Pro4, just for gaming 1080p mostly, I was looking at upgrading to a Ryzen 5 5600x and rtx 2060 ventus not sure what motherboard is best for these components. I've found these for around cpu £200 gpu £380, I'd like to keep motherboard at £100, is this a decent enough upgrade and good choices? Thanks for any help :)

The best motherboard for a 5600x for a bargain rpice of £0.00 is actually your motherboard. AMD have announced that they are allowing 5XXX series support for X370 B350 A320 chipsets. Keep an eye on ASRock website to see if or when your mobo gets a compatable bios. ASRock have in the past been the best for updating bios for newer Ryzen chips so cross your fingers your mobo gets the required update.

The above thread has more relevant info.

Have to agree with Haz.

I'd also suggest getting the 2060 or 2070 (if you can find it within your budget) first as prices are dropping and a GPU impacts your gaming a lot more than upgrading from a 4 core 8 thread to 6 core 12 thread CPU.

That being said, the IPC gain of the 5600X will be far better for your 1% lows. I'm sure you're getting a lot of stuttering at the moment with AAA games.

Maybe also consider the 5600 (non X) that's coming out.

Why not just start with only updating your gpu, and seeing if that gives you a performance boost that you are happy with. Keep the rest of your budget for a later date when new cpus and gpus come out, as will happen.
Have you considered the AMD 6600? Often beats the 2060 and is cheaper than £380 (plus uses less electricity),
MSI Radeon RX 6600 MECH 2X 8GB GDDR6 PCI-Express Graphics Card | OcUK (overclockers.co.uk)

Or if you don't change your CPU and MB at this time you could get a AMD 6600xt, or Nvidia 3060/3060ti instead and upgrade your gpu even more.

If you haven't considered it why not sell your 580 on ebay (if you feel safe using it) or to the second hand chain and use the extra money to buy a 6600xt Sapphire Radeon RX 6600 XT Nitro+ RGB Gaming 8GB GDDR6 PCI-Express Graphics Card | OcUK (overclockers.co.uk)

Not watched it but video from Overclockers,

Before asking them directly, does anyone know if ocuk can update bios on the B450 Tomahawk before shipping to make it 5600x compatible?
edit: just noticed it has bios flashback feature :)
