Not sure if anyone has posted this (did a quick search) but Lord of
Ultima is in open beta testing at the moment,

http://www.lordofultima.com

seems if you have registered on Ea before with an email addy then you can use this to log in.

Its a browser based online multiplayer strategy / city building game, Seems ok so far apart from the building of high level stuff seems to be a massive time sink, obviously you can queue up buildings/armies etc, anyway im playing as Paria if anyone is playing :)

reminds me of http://www.travian.com/ they seem to have stole a lot of there ideas lol and im guessin since this is EA doing this game they gonna charge you! where travian is free, it looks different but all the concepts seem to be the same, only played untill i built a farm though so cant say past that :P

Anyone on here playing this? Interesting diversion, playing on my gf's laptop while bits of my rig are on RMA.

Signed up with a couple of buddies at the same time so we're all in the same corner of one continent (Continent 21 IIRC, on EU CET 2).

Be interested to hear other people's opinions.

Is it another one of those games where you carefully build up a nice little empire and then suddenly get absolutely raped by someone with an army 50 times the size of yours carrying the mediaval equivalent of tactical nukes?

I'm not bitter :p

Yes, my city got wiped out Saturday with around 90k troops against 6k lol.

I've been playing a bit wiht 4 cities atm on World 4 cont 25 I think... In the largest alliance atm (have been since I started) which we have grown and have started to become a big target but no one is really messing with our members as we generally destroy them if they do hehe.

Got enough moonstones for another 2 cities now, which I might make on a different cont, I'm not sure yet.

im still plugging away at this game, although the more time you put into the game the more time you have to spend on it to keep things going, i have over 16 cities now with a mixture of castles / resources cities and gold farms,

They have now announced some details as to an end game of sorts, which will should result in some active fighting over specific areas,

However this game isnt for the faint hearted as it rapidly progresses from something you can queue up a few buildings/troops every few hours to a non-stop shuffling of resources to keep eveything moving.

As for the comments about being zerged by x amount of troops, it is wise not to make your first city a castle, as this makesyou extremely vulnerable to attack and with no back up plan if and when you get rolled,

Its much wiser to focus on resource output and setting up cities that are close by that can send support troops to the city you decide to make into a military base.

The official forums have many good threads that cover base building and common mistakes people make in their early bases, and is well worth reading beforeyou even think about following the somewhat miselading tutorial and quests ingame :)
