Lorry Drivers

Havent read the rest but yes, what hopeless idiots lorry drivers are, on par with van women, tractor, cyclists, taxi & bus drivers.
They should be banned from the roads between say 7 - 9am then again from 5 - 9pm.

Almost every traffic incident you hear is a lorry has crashed, flipped over, broken down or dropped its load. Bloody infuriating

It's rude, inconsiderate and non-mirror using drivers that annoy me. Whether they drive a truck, bus, car, bicycle, motorbike or shoes.

Stupidity is not governed by what a person drives...

I would definately suggest reading the rest simply because I have a very strong feeling you're en route to get inverted, sliced, diced and then dumped through a mincer before being used as a garnish beside someones all day breckfast simply for not reading and appreciating what happened to the other folks who opined very similar childlike things prior to you in this thread. With respect.

Hauliers need motorways more than what you do. They do an incredibly hard job and everything about the execution of that job has narrow margins. They rightfully own the motorways more than what you do - get used to it.

Stop whining.

pretty damn presumptious imo. there are many more motorists. personally everyone needs to stay on left lane when possible.

lorries passing each other for couple mph difference is laughable, not to mention lorries cause the most dangerous accidents, so when i see 2 idiots trying to pass each other with wind blowing across the motorway, I am horrified.

no, its more likely you only hear about lorry crashes because they are big crashes. Small traffic incidents involving cars can be cleared up within 30minutes. A lorry crash will have lost its load, and probably ruined road surface or crash barriers etc, causing closure for a few hours while repairs/clean up is done. Hardly fair to say "all accidents" are due to lorries.

oh and Ban lorries 7-9am, then 5-9pm..... hmmmmm Should we all shut the shops between these hours too? do realise that most shops takes 2-4 HGV loads per HOUR?

what amuses me most about this thread is the fact that so many little idiots see lorries as a massive problem and that they hold them up for 30 seconds on their way to work. Let me say this again and again. Every single object you have in your house was at some point shipped by a lorry of some size.

I am not taking the urine here. Look at any object you see in front of you, and I mean any object. It was at one time or another loaded onto a container or lorry and driven on a road by some bloke in a Scania or a Daf etc to be shipped to your house.

You can bitch and whine all you like about a truck not pulling over and making you 30 seconds late for work but that truck was carrying 15 tonnes of baby milk formula to feed starving kids in Africa. He was trying desperately to make sure he met the ship leaving Portsmouth so he could have his container unloaded to help out.

If it wasn't as vital as that it was still something that kept this ****** up economy ticking over at a snails pace.

In a car you can always put your foot down and pass once the obstruction has passed. In a truck your just stuck trundling along.

Some uber large stores, perhaps, very very few, but most? I don't think so. :p;)

The logistics industry struggles to deliver 24/7 an HGV ban is hardly going to help is it?

You hear about some incidents because of the size of the vehicle involved, a truck breaking down can literally be an effective roadblock, hence it comes up on traffic reports and you hear about it! - QED.

Jesus H Christ! Why am I even trying to explain this?

If EVERYONE moved into the left-most lane possible, then there will always be a couple of lanes available for overtaking.

It's the idiot car drivers who sit in the middle/outside lanes who cause the vast majority of the problems and hold ups!

STAY ON THE LEFT!

This!!!

The problem is not lorry drivers, they move back in to lane 1 once they are done overtaking. The problem is the fools who drive only in lane 2 at 70 mph and then switch off and day dream, completely oblivious and not understanding that they are holding up everyone who wants to make faster progress.

Everyone then doing 75mph has to overtake them in lane 3, blocking that lane up, meaning anyone wishing to go faster, can't. Throughout this, lane 1 will more than likely be completely empty.

And this!!!

SO annoying especially during rush hour, middle and outer lanes are bumper to bumper, yet the inside lane is 100m+ between lorries. MOVE OVER!

Obvious troll was pretty obvious no?! Gotta love permabans!

I've got no problems with lorries overtaking, occasionally they cause a bit of traffic backup on busy motorways but the majority of the time the overtaking manoeuvre doesn't take that long. Where there are three lanes it's the person refusing to do more than 65 in the outside lane who causes the backup most of the time.

It's the 70 mph drivers who sit in the middle lane that baffle me. I enjoy overtaking them, pulling back into the middle lane, indicating purposely to the inside lane for a second or two and then moving in myself. About a 1/3 of the time they get the message and pull into the inside lane behind me...

thats why i said 2-4. :) (not full loads either should have added that last time)

problem is turn around time, might have 1 per hour planned, but if 1 or 2 gets stuck in traffic it can quickly turn into 4 in one hour! Im so glad i dont work in warehouse :p

what annoys me is the lorry overtaking which takes an age to complete, only some seem to do it and im not sure why?

a lorry taking 20/30 seconds to overtake is perfetly fine imo, they need to overtake just like everyone else, but taking 1 or more miles to overtake on a dual carrigeway is taking the absolute biscuit, if you cant overtake in a reasonable time on flat then wait for some downhill or dont overtake at all, seen as your lorry is only about 0.5mph faster

Meh I found its not the ammount of lorries arriving its was the sheer quantity of crap in the warehouse that was the problem. Lorry turns up, unload into a space that doesnt exist and repeat!

yup. chilled goods, no place in chiller? just put it outside, its -6 out there it doesnt matter :D

its also why the shop floor looks like a warehouse by 7pm most days
