If I want to lose weight at the same time as building muscle, should I decrease my calorie consumption?
Unless you're a complete beginner to exercise/lifting then you can't in nearly all cases, since one requires a cal surplus and one a cal deficit. You can gain strength (slowly) on a deficit if your programming/diet/recovery is decent, and yes there's zig-zag dieting and recomping where you go between the two etc but in terms of time spent doing stuff it's easier to just do one or the other, usually with a much greater bulk than cut ratio, since gaining mass is a much slower process than dropping body fat.
After reading up a bit I decided to try the (50% protein; 25% carbs; 25% fat) diet. I intend to train quite a lot. What do you think?
Most people these days don't bother with %'s - macros are based more on bodyweight - e.g. http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/muscle-gain/macronutrient-intake-for-mass-gains-qa.html
