So I've just ordered parts for a new build, AMD Ryzen 5 1600 + Geforce GTX 1080 Ti + 16GB 3200Mhz DDR4.

Decided I want a 2 good monitor to go with it but the more research I do the more lost I get.

1080p vs 1440p
G-Sync vs FreeSync
144 Hz vs 60 Hz
Possibly 2 different monitors? 1 High end and 1 low end?

I don't have a set budget but I don't want to overpay I want the best value for money.

Any help would be highly appreciated!

Well for starters there is absolutely no reason to consider freesync since you ordered the 1080 ti as they don't work together at all. So thats one option taken off the board. Second if money is not that big of an issue i would say pick a monitor with atleast 90hz or higher at 1440p(either 16:9 or 21:9).

Glad I didn't go for FreeSync, ended up ordering 2 x Dell S2716DG 144Hz 1440p G-Sync as these seemed to be the best value for money with good reviews on them.

Yeah you're wrong. Nvidia may be technically superior but you're paying a considerable amount more, plus availability range of monitors is far less with gsync.

how is he wrong? isn't it an entire subjective thing? I personally think gsync is to expensive but that does mean that the next guy wont think its worth the premium.

In fairness AMD can only compete with the 980ti at the moment, they have nothing that competes with the 1080, let alone the 1080ti. This makes freesync not even worth thinking about at this moment.

That is bs. Freesync is certainly worth thinking about. VRR is not just for the high end market.

Hi Vogel, will you give me a honest review once you have tried them out please, could be interested in one of these myself :)

Gsync is costing you more though so what's to be glad about gsync?
Am super glad my monitor is Gsync as AMD have not bought out any high end GPU's that would be able to run it for ages...

Yes Gsync monitors may cost more, but it would have been a complete waste of money buying a free sync monitor when there been no free-sync GPU's powerful enough to run it

How much is the 1080 then?

I have no desire to spend 1080 money on a GPU. That's like saying well all cars that can't do 200mph and 0-60 in less than 5 seconds are crap and not worth considering.

If you don't want to spend 1080 money, spend 1070 money. AMD can't compete with the 1070 either.
